One for the road

A few notes from the week before I head off to Seattle for the weekend...

In the midst of the Finals, I haven't totally lost track of other athletic/real world events. Here's a quick pick-six of non-NBA thoughts.

1) One hell of a performance by Mr. Woods this past weekend. Can't really tell how much pain he was in, but damn. Too bad he won't be able to be around the rest of the season. I may give a "Guinness-in-hand-live blog" during the British open, just to make it more exciting.

2) Didn't really expect to see Curt Schilling on the mound at Fenway this year, and that's the case. There's a lot of things not to like about Dr. 38Pitches, but we'll always have 2004. Thanks, dude.

3) Speaking of baseball, doesn't look like I'm going to start caring until after the All-Star break. Which is actually kind of nice for a change. The Sox were playing Seattle during one of the C's playoff games, and I tried flipping back and forth. Holy crap. over the course of an NBA tv time-out all of two-three pitches would be thrown. If I drove my car that way, my transmission would drop. Eventually summer will bust out and I'll get back into it.

4) Hey, Arlen Spector? Let me see if I've got this straight - Bill Belichik spying: desperately needed congressional investigation. George Bush spying : desperately needed rewrite of constitution to further imperial powers of the presidency. Please, please, someone explain this to me.

5) And Obama? Now would be a good time for you to show some spine and speak out against this FISA travesty.

6) Happy Solstice, y'all.

*update* As soon as I post this, Obama releases a statement. Nay on retroactive immunity, yeah on the rest of it. Grrr...
