What a disappointment, on many levels. However, as Yablo has noted in the comments, Dick Bavetta certainly didn't help the Celtics. This blog by Salon's King Kaufman says it all. I heard a statistic today on WEEI's Dale and Holley show, that ABC and the NBA make approximately 80 Million per game in the finals... and we wonder why Kevin Garnett had 3 fouls in the 2nd Quarter and sitting on the bench, effectively useless during big chunks of the game. Oh well.. here's hoping that the homer-calls are now reversed when the series comes back to Boston tomorrow.
On a side note, I even had a poster of "The Chief" hanging over my TV for good luck.

Agreed - Pierce was being oddly nonchalant with the ball there, but I didn't see a replay where it showed Kobe actually getting a piece of the ball. As soon as Kobe picked up his 5th, game was over - no way they were calling anything on him down the stretch, and he knew it.
ReplyDeleteThe Lakers' D is terrible - they constantly get beat, then try to slap at the ball when they're a step behind. But after game 2, apparently the refs won't call it every time.
